For
the Love of the kangaroos
As
humans, we have a tremendous capacity for understanding and respect.
It is
easy to extend these traits to our animal friends, particularly
our wildlife, and
none is more special than the kangaroo. The kangaroo has lived here
for sixteen
million years and the white man for about 240 years. In that short
time we have
become the biggest threat to our national treasure.
These pictures were taken by people who live with the kangaroos
and know
and understand them. We respect their right to live here and we
love them
dearly.
This site is in memory of the many kangaroos who have died at the
hands of
man. These are not sad pictures, however; they simply show the beauty
of
these gentlest of creatures. We hope to help all Australians (indeed
all nations)
to understand and respect this icon of Australia - the beautiful
kangaroo. Prior
to mans’ interference, the kangaroo survived because it knows
how to look after
its environment. If you look carefully and open your hearts you
too can learn
how to protect the environment and enter the world of the kangaroo.
